Dr Vaalmikki Arjoon is a lecturer at the University of the West Indies, where he currently lectures in Finance, Economics and Statistics at the Department of Management Studies. Prior to joining UWI, he lectured at the University of Nottingham in the UK and at their campus in China. He also received his PhD and MSc degrees in Financial Economics from the University of Nottingham. At the moment he is the youngest full-time lecturer at UWI. 

Dr Arjoon currently serves on the council of the Institute of Banking and Finance of Trinidad and Tobago. He is also a member of several professional international bodies, including the Royal Economic Society, the Leverhulme Institute for Globalisation and Economic Policy, and the Western Economics Association. 

He also travels regularly internationally, to present at many Economic and Financial conferences. In addition, he supervises MSc and PhD theses at UWI, and has also published several of his research studies in the field of Financial Economics in a number of international peer reviewed academic journals.
